Au: Origins Unearthed explores gold through a contemporary lens: the realities of illegal gold mining, the growing movement toward traceability and responsible sourcing, and the people across the jewelry industry and scientific community who are working to make a change.
Works by Ute Decker make an extraordinary contribution to this story. Celebrating her pioneering commitment to Fairtrade gold, as one of the first champions of fully traceable gold, and her support of PeaceGold, aiming to build peace in conflict-affected artisanal and small-scale gold mining communities in Ituri province, Democratic Republic of Congo - give her pieces a significance that extends far beyond the studio and their beauty.
