Jewellery Now: the curators’ edit

An exhibition co-curated by Dr Elizabeth Goring and Gregory Parsons at Ruthin

“Designer-made, one-of-a kind jewellery is very much having a moment. As curators with long experience in this area, we believe it’s attained an exciting level of excellence: something of a Golden Age, worthy of celebration.

We are seeing breathtaking technical skills, exciting materials experimentation, and innovative processes and concepts. These qualities are particularly striking at a time of adverse economic challenges, grave environmental concerns and devastating cuts to skills-based education.

Jewellery Now: the curators’ edit will illustrate the range of materials and processes jewellers are using today, as well as the ethical and environmental concerns so strongly influencing current practice. We’ve selected around 50 highly accomplished and interesting jewellers from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, working at a range of levels from the most experienced to those making exceptional work in the early stages of their careers. “

Artists exhibited from Cockpit Studios are Mark Nuel, Samuel Waterhouse, Yen and Ute Decker.
